NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Best-selling and award-winning singer/songwriter, Fernando Ortega, is set to release his first-ever Christmas project, Christmas Songs, on Curb Records/Word Distribution October 21. The CD, his thirteenth, is produced John Andrew Schreiner and Ortega, and features a set of ten classic traditional Christmas songs and hymns.
“Christmas Songs is a project that I’ve wanted to make for a very long time,” said Ortega. "I love Christmas, but had no idea how to approach the songs without falling into repetition and cliché. In November last year, I started toying around with the melody of ‘Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella.’ The rest of the album sprang from there.”
Highly regarded by critics and fans alike, Fernando Ortega has established himself as one of the leading singer/songwriters in Christian music. Having performed for hundreds of thousands around the world, Ortega’s music draws upon his New Mexican heritage and life experiences creating a sound that embraces country and classical, modern folk, Celtic, Latina American, and world music crafted to the highest standards of pop composition. He has enjoyed substantial radio success, including eight #1 singles. Ortega is a multiple Dove Award-winner, and is also the recipient of a Billboard Latin Music Award.
